Thanks to Reynaers’ ongoing investment in innovative and sustainable aluminium solutions and its robust geographical expansion, the company plans to continue on its remarkable success story. The company aims to grow its current 2014 turnover of 330 M € to 500 M € by 2020. To achieve this, it will invest more than 50 million Euros in Belgium, France, Great Britain, Turkey and the US over the period 2015 to 2017. More than half of this is devoted to the expansion and renovation of the Reynaers site in Duffel.
“The construction industry is by its very nature conservative, but it should not ignore the latest technological and architectural evolutions. It is crucial for us to embrace innovation and to build on it in order to establish our growth sustainably. We therefore do not only invest in new buildings, and logistical and production capacity, but also in the integration of digital and other technological applications in our R & D, measuring, testing and manufacturing processes. In doing so we assure ourselves that our systems will in the future continue to respond to the highest quality and design requirements that the complex construction sector increasingly imposes on us,” says Martine Reynaers, CEO of Reynaers Aluminium.
Duffel grows and renews itself
At the home base of Reynaers Aluminium in Duffel, Jaspers-Eyers Architects have started the expansion of the headquarters with a new prestigious new building. The building is characterized by its architecture, sustainability, innovation and technological advancement. The 4-storey sustainable building, providing 3,500 m² of floor space, will offer Reynaers’ employees, partners and customers, an environment and infrastructure tailored to their needs. Architecturally progressive technology and design is key for a pleasant and sustainable working environment. The new building will feature a high-tech showroom for an optimal experience of its systems; an area dedicated to virtual simulations; an auditorium; conference rooms and offices. In addition to these facilities, the Reynaers Institute will occupy a major portion of the building where it will increase its R & D capacity with the latest digital applications. Digital technology is not only applicable to validation and testing, but also for the development of architectural and high-tech window, door and facade concepts. With the expansion of the office section of the new building, the approach is to create an environment that meets the requirements of current and future generations of employees, looking for a challenging, engaging, innovative and interactive working environment.
Ar-te Architects are responsible for the expansion and renovation of the logistical and production capacities. Technology and sustainability also play a key role here. The warehouses are expanded by almost 20,000 m². For the expansion of the ERAP isolation section and for the testing, training and automation centre, the oldest warehouse will be demolished and completely renewed.
One of the showpieces of the testing centre will be the brand new state-of-the-art testing wall for facades with a height of 15 meters. This enables the most advanced air-wind-water testing of multi-storey facades. In addition, the testing walls for window and door systems are also expanded, while a new stand is provided for cyclic and mechanical testing. This part of the Reynaers Institute also accommodates the 'FabLab’; a special lab for R & D projects in which solutions will be tested at an early stage through the use of rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
Finally, the existing parking area at Duffel will be expanded and a new ring road and container park constructed. Landscaper Avantgarden will expand and lay out the gardens surrounding the building. These gardens serve as a green buffer for local residents and will provide an appropriate water management system for the site.
Growing influence in international markets
Reynaers also expands its presence in its foreign offices to ensure its revenue growth and future expansion. It will increase its logistical capacity in France with the expansion and renovation of warehouses in Ham. The headquarters in Lieusaint will also get more space to accommodate current and future staff growth.
In Great Britain, where Reynaers plans vibrant growth, it will move to a new office building and warehouses. This will enable the company to enhance the speed of its service delivery and increase its logistical capacity.
Due to huge interest and demand for Reynaers’ aluminium systems in the US market, the company recently opened a sales office and logistics facility at Phoenix on the West Coast. Expansion plans for this unit are in the pipeline.
Anticipating the rapidly growing construction market in Turkey, Reynaers spreads its wings there with a new office and warehouses.
Finally, its Alural subsidiary which specializes in powder coating for aluminium products gets a renewal and an expansion of its office building and production capacity. As a result of this investment, Alural will shorten its through-flow times, optimize delivery deadlines, guarantee its coating quality and maximize logistical capabilities.
“The constant growth of our product range and turnover necessitates more storage and production capacity in all markets where we have a presence. Above all, however, investing in technological innovation is a must for a leading company such as Reynaers. This investment plan is, 50 years after our founding, a new turning point in the history of our company, providing critical leverage for our future. Thanks to our innovative and quality driven employees we look at this future with great confidence,” concludes Martine Reynaers.
